Fluke Multimeter Measurement Technology

The engineering principles and innovation that define precision electrical measurement. Every specification is backed by documented test data.

Core Measurement Architecture

Our instruments are designed around a proprietary multi-stage analog-digital signal conditioning chain that delivers laboratory accuracy in field conditions.

Precision measurement circuit architecture

High-Resolution Sigma-Delta ADC

Our 24-bit sigma-delta analog-to-digital converters provide 60,000-count resolution with true-RMS measurement bandwidth from DC to 100kHz. The oversampling architecture inherently rejects 50/60Hz power line noise without compromising measurement speed.

  • Resolution: 6,000 to 60,000 counts
  • Basic DC Accuracy: 0.025% of reading
  • True-RMS Bandwidth: DC to 100kHz
  • Common Mode Rejection: >120dB at DC

Precision Input Protection

A multi-stage protection circuit incorporating MOVs, spark gaps, PTC fuses, and high-energy resistors provides measured immunity to voltage transients up to 8kV, 100kA — exceeding IEC 61010-1 requirements for CAT IV 600V installations.

  • Transient Withstand: 8kV / 100kA per IEC 61010
  • Overload Protection: 1000V DC or AC RMS on all ranges
  • Input Impedance: >10 Mohm on all voltage ranges

Safety Engineering Philosophy

Measurement safety is an engineering discipline, not a label. Every safety rating is independently verified through destructive and non-destructive testing.

01

IEC 61010 Compliance

All instruments are designed, prototyped, and production-tested to the full requirements of IEC 61010-1 and IEC 61010-2-033. Third-party type testing is performed by NRTL-accredited laboratories including UL, CSA, and TUV.

02

CAT IV 600V Rating

Our flagship multimeters and insulation testers carry a genuine CAT IV 600V / CAT III 1000V rating — the highest measurement category defined by IEC 61010. This enables safe use at the service entrance and primary supply level.

03

Arc Blast Testing

Beyond standard impulse testing, our instruments undergo arc blast exposure testing simulating worst-case fault conditions. Enclosures, test leads, and probe tips are evaluated for flame propagation and shrapnel containment.

ISO 17025 calibration laboratory

ISO/IEC 17025 Calibration Methodology

Every instrument leaves our facility with a traceable calibration certificate. Our 12 calibration laboratories worldwide maintain accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 — the international standard for testing and calibration laboratory competence.

Traceability Chain

NIST (USA) / PTB (Germany) / NMI (Australia) traceable through unbroken chains of calibration with documented measurement uncertainties at every level.

Uncertainty Budgets

Full GUM-compliant measurement uncertainty analysis provided with every calibration certificate, covering Type A and Type B uncertainty contributions.

Environmental Control

Calibration performed in temperature-controlled environments (23C ± 1C, 45% ± 10% RH) with continuous monitoring and recording of ambient conditions.

Connected Measurement Platform

Transform standalone instruments into an enterprise measurement network with wireless connectivity, cloud analytics, and SCADA integration.

Bluetooth LE

Low-energy wireless data transfer from instrument to mobile device or gateway with 30-meter range and AES-128 encryption.

Cloud Analytics

Trend analysis, threshold alerts, and automated reporting through our secure cloud platform with API access for ERP integration.

SCADA / BMS

Modbus TCP and BACnet protocol support for direct integration with building management and industrial control systems.

Data Logging

On-board data recording at up to 1-second intervals with 10,000+ reading capacity and timestamped CSV export.
